GFA dragged to court by former Black Stars trainer Jamie Lawrence over unpaid bonuses

Former Black Stars Physical trainer Jamie Lawrence has dragged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to court over unpaid bonuses running into thousands of pounds, according to reports.

Lawrence was sacked together with ex-Ghana coach CK Akonnor following the appointment of Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac who has also been sacked after early exit at the ongoing 2021 AFCON.

The 50 year old has ordered his legal team to serve the GFA following several months of non response for his unpaid salaries and bonuses.

He returned to the Black Stars after coach CK Akonnor assumed the National team coaching role, and was involved in two World cup qualifiers against South Africa and Ethiopia, and also played a part in Ghana’s 2021 AFCON qualification.

Lawrence, who worked as Ghana’s physical trainer in the 2015 and 2017 AFCON tournaments where the Black stars reached the final and semi final respectively has been involved in several other games of the Black Stars upon invitation of the GFA

The Trainer in November wrote that his time with the Black Stars has come to an end following the arrival of Milovan Rajevac, but all attempts to claim his unpaid bonuses has proven futile with the FA acting reluctantly in paying.

According to reports, Lawrence intends to use both court, and FIFA to press down his demands for his unpaid bonuses.

He was on a ‘Pay as you go’ contract with the GFA, but series of unpaid arrears has accumulated to the huge sums being demanded by the Jamaican trainer.
