Head of Women Football Development at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Jennifer Amankwa Sarpong has revealed that the association is gearing up to engage and empower more young girls to play football through the Football4Girls initiative.

She disclosed this in a brief presentation at the ongoing Women Football Administrators Course at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

"The GFA in the immediate short-term, is planning to launch the Women Football Campaign and League. Development areas like the U13, U15 and U17 will be a key focus. We are also gearing up to engage and empower more young girls to play football through the Football4Girls initiative," she said.

In the field of Education, Jennifer Amankwa Sarpong said the GFA has offered refresher courses for female coaches, trained and built the capacities of administrators, trained and developed female referees and has expanded and organised courses for qualified technical staff at the National team levels.

She said through the incorporation of the “Catch Them Young Referee Policy” at the grass-root level, the GFA has also trained young girls in refereeing and also launched the Football4Girls Project across some Regions hoping to expand that later in the year.
