GFA ready to award GHS50,000 to match-fixing whistle-blowers

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has set aside an amount of GHS50,000 to be awarded to anyone that gives information that will lead to the unraveling of match-fixing scandals in the local league.

Since last season, the Ghana Premier League in particular has suffered from match-fixing scandals.

In addition, there are growing concerns that people including club owners and their officials are involved in using matches for bets for monetary gains.

While the Ghana FA has tried to collaborate with the Ghana Police Service to fight the canker spoiling the name of the local leagues, no success has been achieved in that regard.

To motivate people to come forth with information that will expose people involved in match-fixing, sources say the Ghana FA is now ready to offer as high as GHS50,000 in monetary rewards to anyone that provides legit details to substantiate such allegations.

Ahead of the conclusion of the 2021/22 football season in Ghana, the GFA has been urged to critically look at matches of clubs fighting to escape relegation.
