GFA to choose Accra Sports Stadium or Baba Yara for Ghana v Nigeria WC qualifier

Published on: 25 January 2022

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has been asked to select either the Accra Sports Stadium on the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for Ghana’s crucial qualifier against Nigeria to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

This is contained in a letter from the National Sports Authority which indicates that the Cape Coast Stadium will not be available in March where the game is scheduled to be played.

“By this letter, the Ghana Football Association is accordingly informed of this decision and advised to resort to other venues preferably Baba Yara Sports Stadium and Accra Sports Stadium respectively for the March, 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff qualifier between the Black Stars of Ghana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria,” the NSA letter has said.

The unavailability of the Cape Coast Stadium is because the government wants to hold this year's Independence Anniversary Celebration at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in March.
