GFA to ease financial burden on clubs with FIFA stimulus package amid Coronavirus outbreak

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will further reduce the financial burden of clubs in the country as it is set to receive a stimulus packaged from the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) in the midst of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

With the world fighting a common enemy in the name of Covid-19, several institutions have been affected by the blowback. In football, the suspension of the 2019/2020 season has seen clubs all over the world going through financial difficulties as they try to cope with the payment of players and staff salary.

It has been no difference in Ghana with clubs crying to the Ghana FA to come to their aid with support. In all the cries, FIFA has been working around the clock to offer stimulus packs for its member associations and has finally confirmed that it will be distributing $150 million among all of its 211 member associations.

In line with that, the GFA is expected to receive $5000 dollars as its share top help the body survive the storm. Once the money hits the accounts of the body, clubs in the Ghana Premier League, the lower divisions and the Women's Premier League will benefit to help reduce their financial burden.

Already, the Ghana Premier League clubs have been given $5,000 by the GFA from the StarTimes Television Sponsorship rights package.
