Ghana captain Andre Ayew reacts to his red card incident on Le Havre debut

Ghana international Andre Ayew has reacted after being sent off on his debut for French Ligue 1 side Le Havre.

Ayew had a disastrous debut after receiving the marching orders when his side shared the spoils with Nantes in the French top-flight.

The Black Stars captain debut for Le Havre didn’t go according to script as he was sent off minutes after coming on in his outfit game against Nantes at the Stade de la Beaujoire - Louis Fonteneau.

The former Fenerbache star was introduced into the game in the 65th minute mark, replacing Loïc Négo. Two minutes later, the former Marseille and Swansea City star was red carded following a dangerous tackle on an opponent player.

The Ghana international hopes of a flying start to life on his return to France dashed, as his involvement in the game was cut short due to the red card. Ayew will be disappointed to have started his spell with Le Havre on bad note.

Reacting to the red card incident, Ayew said, "Yes, it's true that it's soccer, it's soccer. I think that with enough experience, you can take a step back from situations, but I'm pretty calm after seeing the images again."

"In terms of the game, in terms of the action, what I interpret is here he comes, there's a ball in thirty-fifty-fifty that's really being played between the two of them. He throws himself, he throws himself before me, I see him throw himself, he's going to get the ball before me, I lift my foot, trying to hold it back and on the way to land I brush against his shin guard. And that's it, that was the referee's decision."

Ayew, who led the Black Satellites to clinch the FIFA U20 World Cup for the first time in African history is expected to miss some games for Le Havre after picking a straight red card in the week 13 fixture.

Meanwhile, he will be hoping to bounce back stronger following a disastrous debut for Le Havre, who are counting on the experienced Ghana forward for survival.

The 33-year-old joined Le Havre as a free agent before the November international break, having recently left Premier League side Nottingham Forest.
