Ghana Captain Asamoah Gyan unsure about availability for Congo return leg

Former Ghana player Augustine Arhinful has blasted the Black Stars team for their lackadaisical approach to the world cup qualifying game against Congo on Friday.

Ghana were held to a 1-1 draw by Congo in Kumasi, much to the disappointment of the entire nation. The team which was given a lifeline following Egypt’s defeat in Kampala on Thursday failed to capitalize on the chance.

Thievy Bifouma was the orchestra in the Congolese attack as he scored the opener in the 17th minute before Thomas Partey of Athletico Madrid fetched Ghana a late equalizer.

Meanwhile, a disappointed Augustine Arhinful slammed the team for the poor performance exhibited on Friday.

“I believe we started to slow from the back, the build up was not the best, we were playing as if it was training match, there was any urgency in our play from the beginning,” he said on the Legends Night TV show.

“So I kept asking myself what were we doing, because playing at home we needed to put pressure on them and keep the ball upfront so that they make mistake, so I asked myself about the format we were playing because the set up was good on screen” Arhinful said.

The Black Stars will leave Ghana for the second leg on Tuesday as the chances of Russia 2018 slips away gradually.
