Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah has been named the Columbus Crew defender of the year at the end of the 2020 Major League Soccer (MLS) season.

The centre-back has this past season been unplayable in his position, putting in stellar performances to help his team pick up crucial points.

Having played every single minute of the MLS campaign for Columbus Crew, the captain deservedly made the shortlist for the defender of the year.

In the end, he has been adjudged the winner and is also a contender for the MLS defender of the year award as well.

This becomes the third time Jonathan Mensah has won the award at Columbus Crew. He has successively picked up the accolade since making the move from Anzhi Makhachkala in 2017.

Below is a list of winners from the Columbus Crew end of season awards:

LUCAS ZELARAYAN – MOST VALUABLE PLAYER

GYASI ZARDES – GOLDEN BOOT WINNER

JONATHAN MENSAH – DEFENDER OF THE YEAR

DARLINGTON NAGBE – KIRK URSO HEART AWARD

TJ PRESTHUS – CREW SC ACADEMY PLAYER OF THE YEAR
