Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu features for Southampton in 2-1 comeback win against Lincoln

Highly-rated Ghana international, Mohammed Salisu was in action for Southampton on Tuesday night and helped the team to defeat Lincoln 2-1 in the EFL Cup.

The centre-back was part of the Black Stars squad that played at the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.

At the tournament, Mohammed Salisu started all three matches in Group H as Ghana lost to Portugal and Uruguay while beating South Korea.

With Ghana exiting the tournament at the end of the group stage, the defender immediately returned to England and has been training with his Southampton teammates ever since.

On Tuesday when Southampton hosted Lincoln in the EFL Cup Round of 16, Mohammed Salisu started for his team and helped the Saints to come from behind to beat Lincoln 2-1.

On the matchday, Salisu lasted 63 minutes of the game before he was replaced in the 63rd minute by Stuart Armstrong.

A brace from Che Adams was key to Southampton's win as the Saints advanced to the quarter-finals of the Cup competition.
