Ghana FA Cup: Lower-tier club Nania FC eliminates Great Olympics to earn last 16 spot

Lower-tier side Nania FC continued their impressive performance in the Ghana FA after defeating Great Olympics to progress to the next stage of the competition.

In a much-anticipated encounter on Sunday, the Division One League side locked horns with the Ghana Premier League outfit at the Tema Sports Stadium.

Nania FC, owned by Ghana legend Abedi Pele continued their giant-killing feat in the Cup competition after edging out Great Olympics to earn a spot in the last 16.

The Division One side triumphed over Great Olympics 5-3 on penalties to book last 16 spot following a 1-1 draw in full time.

Annor Walker’s side shot into the lead in the game following a dominant first half but Nania FC staged a comeback to force the game to penalties after grabbing the equalizer three minutes after the halftime break.

Before upsetting Great Olympics, Nania FC had eliminated giants Hearts of Oak from the competition at the Pobiman Complex.

Nania will find out their opponents for the next stage in a draw to be held next week.
