Ghana Football Association spokesman, Henry Asante Twum has rubbished the claim the Ministry of Finance splashed $800,000 for the September friendlies.

The Black Stars engaged in two friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua during the international break.

Ghana lost 3-0 to the South American giants before recovering to beat Nicaragua 1-0.

Earlier reports in the local media claimed that the Finance Ministry supported the Ghana FA with an amount of $800,000 for the friendlies.

But the Ghana FA spokesman has denied such reports and has called on the public to treat it with the needed contempt it deserves.

"It is not true I don’t remember anytime in Ghana when we played a friendly match and the FA went to the government to demand money. We have gone beyond that first of all you will ask yourself that 800,000 usd what went into the expenditure, who did we pay, who did we give it to. In friendly matches of this nature it is a decision between two federations," he said on Happy FM as monitored by footballghana.com

"The figure in itself is not correct that is not how much we spent for the two matches. If you are using a national property like Black Stars go for a game and it is not the World Cup or Afcon or friendly match all the monetary considerations when you sign the contract we take it to the ministry,”
