Black Satellites head coach, Desmond Ofei, has revealed that applying elements in Ghana’s football DNA got the U-20 side to win gold at the 13th African Games.

Ghana's U-20 side were crowned champions of the men's football after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Uganda at the Accra Sports Stadium with Jerry Afriyie scoring the only goal of the game in the 90th minute.

Addressing the media after the win, Ofei praised his lads for winning gold and pointed to the key component in the team’s successful run.

“Top top talented boys, hardworking players and they were hungry to show the nation what they were about," he said.

"We had to select the best possible players to represent the nation and that’s what we did. We had to guide them and work really hard and we had a vision together with the DNA of the national team and that’s what we used for this group.

“It will help the process in terms of bringing our new national philosophy, national DNA and it gives us leverage to push really hard. We have a lot of work to do and I think this is just the beginning," he added.
