Ghana forward Inaki Williams crowned Best African Player in Spanish La Liga

Ghana international Inaki Williams has been adjudged the Best African Player in the Spanish La Liga following his impressive performance for Athletic Bilbao in the soon to end campaign.

The Black Stars forward has enjoyed an amazing campaign with the Rojiblancos, scoring crucial goals to help his outfit secure Europe spot ahead of next season.

Williams also played a pivotal role to help Athletic Bilbao to end their 40-year trophy drought in the Copa del Rey after triumphing over Mallorca in the finals.

The forward scored crucial goals against giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, justifying his top performance this season.

His explosive displays did not go unnoticed and has therefore been crowned the Best African Player in the La Liga for 2023/24 season.

Before the game against Sevilla at the San Mames on Sunday, May 19, 2024, the striker was presented with his award by Andoni Goikoetxea, a Bilbao legend.

This season, he has netted 12 goals in the La Liga, providing three assists in 34 games.

Williams recently reached a new milestone at Athletic Bilbao after hitting 100 goals for the club in their game against Osasuna.

Since making his debut in 2015, the Bilbao-born forward has established himself as a key member of the team, scoring some important goals for the club.

Having reached 100 goals for Bilbao, Inaki will be aiming to climb up in the club’s all-time top scorer lists.

He has a contract with the club until 2028, giving him plenty of time to catch up.

The current record holder is Telmo Zarra, who scored an astonishing 335 goals in 15 years.
