Ghana international Inaki Williams has been left out of Athletic Bilbao’s pre-season squad for the tour in Mexico as he is yet to gain full fitness.

The Black Stars forward has been nursing injury as he aims to recover fully for the upcoming season.

Williams pulled out of the Black Stars squad for the AFCON qualifiers in June after revealing he had played through pains in the latter part of the 2022/23 season.

Despite reporting for preseason last week, the 29-year-old has been excluded from Ernesto Valverde’s squad for the preseason tour in Mexico.

Athletic Club have decided to leave the striker behind for him to fully recover before the start of the season despite showing signs of recovery.

Meanwhile, his younger brother, Nico WIliams and the twenty-three other players have joined manager Ernesto Velverde for the trip to Mexico.

Athletic Club will play two friendlies against Chivas and Necaxa before returning to Spain for the 2023/24 season.

Below is the travelling squad:

Unai Simón, Alex Padilla
