Ghana international Jordan Ayew has highlighted on his side’s poor first half display in Crystal Palace defeat to Leicester City in the English Premier League.

The 31-year-old featured on Sunday as his outfit suffered a 2-1 defeat at the Foxes at away.

He lasted the entire duration winning a penalty for his side, but Wilfred Zaha unfortunately blew it away.

Speaking after the game, the Black Stars forward expressed his displeasure about the teams performance in the first half and has therefore called on his teammates to backup ahead of their FA Cup semi final tie with Chelsea.

“We didn’t start the game well,” Ayew explained to Premier League Productions after the full-time whistle.

“It was all about the first half and we needed a better half than that. We paid the price and conceded two goals. In the second half, we were a better team. We pushed and managed to come back. But it’s a wake-up call for us and we know it’s important for us to have a good start and build on it. The most important thing is that it happened now and not against Chelsea, so now we have one week to prepare and we’ll do our best to do better in that game.”

“It shows we need to be consistent and we need to work on it,” he added. “We’ve come to the end of a good run. The most important thing is that it happened today and not next week though so we can build on this. It’s going to be very important to have a good start in that game.

Jordan Ayew has scored two goals this season for Crystal Palace.
