Ghana forward Joseph Paintsil shines with goal and assist in LA Galaxy’s win over San Jose Earthquake

Ghana international Joseph Paintsil delivered an outstanding performance to propel LA Galaxy to victory over San Jose Earthquake in the Major League Soccer.

The former Genk attacker scored and provided an assist as LA Galaxy cruised to a 4-3 win over their opponent in the Cali Classico clash on Monday.

Gabriel Pec opened the scoring for LA Galaxy after just 14 minutes into the game before Joseph Paintsil doubled the advantage for the host from the spot in the 24th minute at the Dignity Health Sports Park.

The Black Stars forward went from scorer to provider after Maya Yoshida rose high to head home a corner kick from the Ghanaian inn the 30th minute.

San Jose pulled one back for the visitors through Rodrigues in the 32nd minute mark as the first half ended 3-1 in favour of LA Galaxy

After the break, former Barcelona midfielder Ricard Puig registered his name on the scoresheet to cement victory for the home team in the 56th minute.

San Jose managed to reduce the deficit through Benjamin Kikanovic and Jeremy Ebobisse, who found the back of the net in the 58th and 72nd minute marks respectively.

The victory keeps LA Galaxy top of the Western Conference table as Paintsil plays a pivotal role in their campaign.

Painstil, who join LA Galaxy from KRC Genk in February, has now made eight goal contribution in the 2024 MLS season.
