Ghana legend Abedi Ayew Pele confident Black Stars can annex 2023 AFCON title in Ivory Coast

Football legend Abedi Ayew Pele is confident the Black Stars can annex the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in Ivory Coast.

Ghana are set to pursue their fifth AFCON title in the upcoming tournament starting on January 13, 2024, through to February 11, 2024., where they will face off Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Verde in Group B.

In interview with Vision 1 FM monitored by Footballghana.com, the three-time African Footballer of the Year winner asserted Ghana can clinch the title upcoming AFCON title.

“Well, we will win. There will be our chances. We’ve been to finals three times and I think our chance will be maybe this time or in the next four years we will be there” he said.

The Black Stars last won the competition in 1982, their fourth title and have since then lost three finals. They lost 10 years after their last triumph to Ivory Coast on penalties and also gave away the trophy to Egypt in 2010. Ivory Coast repeated their glory against Ghana in 2015.
