Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan turns 34 years today

Veteran Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan celebrates his birthday today as he turns 34 years.

The Black Stars legend born in Accra on November 22, 1985, started off his career with Ghana Premier League side Liberty Professionals where he netted ten goals after making 16 appearances.

He later moved to Italy where he played for Serie A side Udinese. After bagging 11 goals in 39 league matches he earned a move to French Ligue 1 side Rennes where he equally enjoyed a good stint by finding the back of the net 14 times in 48 appearances.

Asamoah Gyan is the all-time leading goal scorer of the Ghana national team with 51 goals.

Nicknamed Baby Jet, the striker has represented his national team at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups and managed to score 6 goals, making him the top African goalscorer in the history of the World Cup.

At the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, Gyan featured in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, scoring in all but the last tournament.

The former FC Sunderland marksman has individual honours such as the BBC African Footballer of the Year (2010), CAF Team of the Year (2010, 2013, 2014), UAE Pro League Top Scorer (2011–12, 2012–13, 2013–14), AFC Champions League Top Scorer (2014), as well as AFC Foreign Player of the Year (2014).

In his trophy room, he has medals for being part of the Al Ain team that won the UAE Pro League in (2011–12, 2012–13, 2014–15), the UAE President's Cup (2013–14), and the Arabian Gulf Super Cup in 2012.

The birthday boy is currently playing his football in the Indian Super League with NorthEast United as he continues to score goals.
