Ghana midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng is satisfied with AC Monza's goalless draw against Lecce in the Serie B over the weekend.

Boateng put up an incredible performance but it was not enough as they failed to close the gap on leaders Empoli after the draw at the Stadio Comunale Via del Mare.

"We knew that Lecce are a strong team, I think we had a good match like them. It's a fair draw, you could see that we were tired and nobody wanted to make a mistake, but a balanced match. Even if I play wide I try to find the position just to help my comrades," Boateng said after the game.

"There is a long way to go, we have to grow further. If we put in the desire as in the last games, everything is possible".

Balotelli was left out of the matchday squad despite his immediate impact on his debut against Salernitana. Boateng believes the Italian forward will contribute hugely to the club in the second round.

"He arrived with great desire, he also felt a bit annoyed at first but he wanted to play at all costs, now with a little break he gets back into shape and gives us a hand," he added.

"We all know he is very strong and I'm glad he came here."

Boateng joined Monza in the summer transfer window and has scored four goals as the club lie 3rd on the league table with 30 points after 17 matches played.
