Ghana midfielder Kudus Mohammed not worried by change in positions at Ajax

Ghana international Kudus Mohammed says he is unworried by the changes to his position at Ajax.

Kudus, who has been in prolific form this season, became more efficient under new manager John Heitinga, scoring three goals and providing an assist since he took over from Alfred Schreuder.

On Thursday, he was deployed as a left-winger as Ajax beat FC Twente to progress to the quarterfinals.

Kudus was the hero of Ajax after scoring the match-winner in the Dutch Cup game against FC Twente.

Under Alfred Schreuder the 22-year-old was restricted to a role upfront, playing as a false nine.

Even though Kudus prefers playing as a midfielder, he has indicated he is comfortable playing in any position at the club.

“Is a new position for me but the most important thing having the freedom to play how I want to play and the coach gives me that freedom and I don’t feel restricted from how I want to play. Even though I still prefer to play as a midfielder but even if I play on the right-wing you can see I still do my best for the team. so is a new position for me but I think it is good for my development so I just do my best to help the team”

“In the last three matches, sometimes I come in the midfield, the good thing is that we have players that can switch and play in different positions as me also which makes us unpredictable. It’s really good that we can mix up the role, sometimes I am on the wide and sometimes Steven Bergius goes on the wide so it confuses the opponent and makes us unpredictable. The good thing is the freedom in the team”

Kudus is expected to start when Ajax hosts Waalwijk on Sunday.

The Ghana international is enjoying an amazing campaign, scoring 12 goals and providing three assists in 26 games.
