Despite being in fine form, Dutch international Steven Berghuis has emerged as the clear favourite to win the Ajax Player of the season gong.

Berghuis has received the most votes from Ajax fans and cannot be overtaken with four games to end the season, according to Ajax Life.

The Dutchman currently has 47 points, while Kudus, who is in second place, has 30 points. Edson Álvarez is third with 27 points, followed by Steven Bergwijn and Davy Klaassen.

Berghuis has played 28 games in the Eredivisie this season, scoring nine goals and providing nine assists.

It is the first time Berghuis is clinching the Player of the season award having finished second last season.

Meanwhile, the Ghana international is currently nursing an injury.
