Ghana international Salis Abdul Samed played his last match in this season’s UEFA Europa League on Wednesday night after failing to eliminated Freiburg.

The Black Stars midfielder was called to action when his side succumbed to a 3-2 defeat at the Europa-Park Stadion.

The former Clermont Foot player delivered an outstanding performance despite his outfit defeat in the game.

Before the return fixture of the Round 32 clash, Lens had shared the spoils with the Bundesliga club in France.

However, Freiburg progressed to the Round 16 of the Europa League 3-2 on aggregate. Lens must now focus on the French Ligue 1 campaign.

Lens threw away a two goal lead to suffer defeat in the much-anticipated encounter.

Portugal international David Costa opened the scoring for the visitors in the 28th minute mark before Elye Wahi doubled the advantage as they went to recess with the advantage.

But the host staged a comeback to force the game to extra time. Hungary forward Roland Sallai pulled one back in the 67th minute before grabbing the equalizer in stoppage time.

Freiburg sealed victory few minutes into extra time through Michael Gregoritsch.
