Ghana midfielder Salis Abdul Samed suffers injury setback in RC Lens defeat to PSG

Ghana international Salis Abdul Samed is set to spend time on the sidelines after suffering an injury setback while in action for RC Lens at the weekend.

The Black Stars midfielder was replaced at half time after picking up an ankle sprain during his outfit 3-1 defeat to giants Paris Saint Germain.

After the game, Lens manager Franck Haise confirmed the Ghana international has sustained an ankle sprain injury.

"For him [Salis Abdul Samed], there is has a sprain yes. I don't know the gravity yet, but I know it comes from the action on the first base," he said.

Spanish international Marco Asensio opened the scoring for PSG on the stroke of first half after connecting from Warren Zaire-Emery pass.

PSG continued their dominance in the game, grabbing their second and third goals respectively through Kylian Mbappe, who found the back of the net in the 52nd and 90th minute marks.

The visitors reduced the deficit in the additional minutes through Morgan Guilavogui as the game ended 3-1 in favour of PSG.

Salis has made three appearances for RC Lens this season. His injury come as a huge blow to the Black Stars as coach Chris Hughton prepares to name his squad for the final round of the AFCON 2023 qualifiers against Central Africa Republic.
