Ghana move up in latest FIFA ranking but remains out of top ten in Africa

Following the Black Stars back-to-back wins during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Ghana has climbed up in the FIFA rankings.

In the latest rankings released on Thursday, Ghana has moved to the 64th positions, four places from their previous position after impressing in the World Cup qualifiers.

However, the four-time African champions are out of the top ten in Africa, sitting 12th position in the continent.

The Black Stars secured an important away win over Mali last Thursday in Bamako before returning to Kumasi to beat Central Africa Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium, making it two wins in a row.

This means the Black Stars have ended their winless run this year after going seven games without a win.

The latest ranking will be used for the draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Johannesburg next month.

Meanwhile, Morocco remains on top of the ranking on the Africa continent followed by Senegal. Egypt, Cote D'Ivoire and Nigeria completes the top five countries in Africa.

Globally, world champions Argentina are top followed by France and Belgium in the top three places.
