Ghana players in action in England today guard against injuries ahead of AFCON 2017

There will be three Black Stars players in action today for their clubs across the various tiers of English football.

The trio of players - Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew and Daniel Amartey - will be desperate to avoid injuries when they take to the pitch ahead of the start of the AFCON on January 14 in Gabon.

They are expected to join their teammates in the United Arab Emirates city of Al Ain after their games today.

Amartey is expected to continue in the midfield role for Leicester today at 12.30pm when they face Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

Amartey's compatriot Jeffrey Schlupp is nursing an injury and is expected to miss out on both the clash and as well as the 26-man Black Stars squad.

At the Olympic Stadium at 5.15pm, an under-fire Andre Ayew is expected to continue his blossoming partnership with Andy Carroll in the West Ham attack against a resurgent Manchester United.

Andre has found life difficult since switching to West Ham and the AFCON slated for Gabon will come as welcome relief from criticism by West Ham fans.

In the Championship, Jordan Ayew will be hoping to depart on a winning-note when his Aston Villa side travel to Wales to face Cardiff City.

Jordan has been deployed as a super-sub by Steve Bruce in recent weeks but will be looking forward to making a start this season.
