Published on: 26 May 2024

Asante Kotoko tactician Prosper Narteh Ogum has named his starting lineup for the much-anticipated game against fierce rival Hearts of Oak.

The two most glamourous clubs are set to lock horns this afternoon at the Baba Yara Stadium in matchday 31 of the Ghana Premier League campaign.

However, both teams have been struggling with form, with the Porcupine Warriors recently losing to Berekum Chelsea whiles Hearts of Oak succumbed to a narrow defeat to Aduana Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Despite a challenging 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign for both teams, the encounter remains a crucial one, due to the bragging rights.

Currently, Kotoko sits in 10th place, while Hearts of Oak languishes in 12th spot, both outside the top four.

Ahead of the game, Ogum has announced his starting lineup as goalkeeper Frederick Asare leads the Kotoko team. This means Danlad Ibrahim will watch from the bench.

Experienced midfielder Justice Blay, Steven Mukwala, Baba Yahaya, Enoch Morrrison and Serge Eric Zeze have all been handed starting roles.

Nicholas Osei Bonsu, Peter Amidu, Emmanuel Kotei, Andrews Ntim Manu have all been handed starting places in the team.

Kotoko secured a 3-2 win in the first leg against Hearts of Oak and will be aiming hoping to secure a back to back wins against the sworn rivals.

Below is the starting XI:

Frederick Asare, Emmanuel Kotei, Nicholas Osei Bonsu, Justice Blay, Serge Eric Zeze, Yussif Nurudeen Mohammed, Peter Amidu, Baba Yahaya, Steve Mukwala, Enoch Morrison
