AshantiGold have placed themselves high in the title race with a 1-0 victory over Liberty Professionals at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.

AshantiGold started brightly with a number of chances created but did not go ahead until the final minutes of the first half.
The Miners were handed a penalty in the 45th minute after Amos Nkrumah’s shot was handled by a Liberty defender.
Appiah Maccarthy stepped up and put the ball past the goalkeeper and into the net, giving the Obuasi based club the advantage at half time.

Liberty tried to level the scores in the second half but the defence of AshantiGold were resilient and did not allow anything past them.
AshantiGold are now in 3rd place and Liberty are in 13th place on the Ghana Premier League table.
