Ghana Premier League prize money not enough to fund our Africa campaign - Samartex owner Richard Duah

FC Samartex president Richard Duah Nsenkyire has stated that the Ghana Premier League prize money will not be enough to fund their participation in 2024/25 the CAF Champions League.

The Samreboi-based club will represent Ghana in the foremost club competition in Africa after making history by winning the Ghana top flight.

Samartex received GHC 500,000 for their victory, a sum that Nsenkyire believes is not enough to fund the expenses associated with competing in the CAF Champions League

“We can’t survive with this prize money for our Africa campaign. It can’t even pay our bills,” he stated, in an interview with 3 Sports.

“We are representing Ghana in Africa and I expect all corporate bodies and all individuals, philanthropists, whoever, to come to our aid and help us push the agenda so that in the nearest future, our slot in Africa can be increased.

“When we do well, it affects automatically everybody in the football family,” he added.

Samartex won the Ghana Premier League in only their second season in the Ghana top flight.
