Swansea City boss Steve Cooper has disclosed Ghanaian forward Andre Ayew turned down several offers to stay with the club in the summer transfer window.

Ayew was linked with a move away from the club with Lazio, Werder Bremen, Schalke 04 and Sampdoria showing interest in acquiring the services of the Ghanaian during the summer after ending his loan spell at Fenerbahce.

But, the 29-year-old decided to stay at the Liberty Stadium for the 2019/20 season.

"He had offers and he could have gone but the most important thing to say is that he wanted to stay, he decided to stay because he believes in what we're doing and want to part of it," Swansea City manager boss Steve Coope.

The former West Ham ace has been a key contributor for the Swans, making six appearances and scoring two goals.

With vast experience, Ayew is expected to lead Swansea City back to the English Premier League under their new boss Steve Cooper.
