According to John Paintsil, the Black Stars blew an opportunity to defeat Ethiopia on Thursday.

Ethiopia held Ghana to a 1-1 draw in their Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg on Thursday.

The Black Stars, who are keen to qualify for the next World Cup, seized the lead in the 22nd minute thanks to captain Andre Ayew's free kick. Despite a sluggish output following the score, they maintained a small advantage going into half time.

The Ethiopians never let up after drawing parity in the 72nd minutes thanks to a close-range goal from Getaneh Kebede.

“The South Africans are more dangerous than the Ethiopians," John Paintsil said on GTV SportsPlus.

“We should have learned from what we experienced when we played them (Ethiopia) in Ghana; that they are a passing ball team who also want to play the ball on the grass,"

“But they’ve (Black Stars) given it to them,"

“They (Black Stars) gave it out.” he ended.
