Ghana striker Caleb Ekuban nets winning goal to hand Trabzonspor Turkish Cup title

Ghana international Caleb Ekuban scored the winning goal for his Trabzonspor side on Wednesday evening when they defeated Istanbul Basaksehir 2-1 in the Turkish Super Cup.

The forward has been in scintillating form in the Super Lig this season and was tipped to go on to be key for his team today in the Cup final.

Starting the game for Trabzonspor at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium, Caleb Ekuban translated his form in the league to the game against Istanbul Basaksehir.

On the matchday, Djaniny scored in the 48th minute to give Trabzonspor the lead on the back of a goalless draw in the first half.

Ten minutes later, Demba Ba converted a penalty kick to restore parity for Istanbul Basaksehir.

In the fierce contest that ensued from there on, Ghana attacker Caleb Ekuban handed the Super Cup to Transonspor in the end when he fired in an equalizer in the 86th minute.

With Istanbul Basaksehir unable to find answers, Caleb Ekuban and his teammates has been crowned champions of this season’s Turkish Super Cup.
