Asamoah Gyan's participation in AFCON 2017 may be over after he suffered what appeared to be a hamstring strain in their final group D clash against Egypt.

Gyan was seen clutching his hamstring after a sprint in the game Egypt eventually won 1-0.

The Ghana captain went off the pitch for treatment on his dodgy hamstring which has plagued him this season but returned moments later and tried to run it off.

However, the Al Ain man was replaced by Aston Villa forward Jordan Ayew in the 41st minute as a precaution.

The experienced Gyan who is yet to complete 90 minutes at the 2017 AFCON left the pitch with his face in his hands.

He is expected to undergo a fitness test tomorrow to ascertain the extent of the injury.
