Ghana target, Eddie Nketiah has been named in England squad for their Euro 2024 qualifiers.

England play Ukraine on 9 September in Poland, and Scotland in a friendly on 12 September.

The Arsenal striker who has been on the radar of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has been handed a call-up by Gareth Southgate following his impressive outings for the Gunners.

Nketiah was born in England to Ghanaian parents and was eligible to play for any of the two countries at the international level.

Despite featuring for the youth national teams for the English, the Ghana FA made an attempt to convince him to switch nationality to play for the West African country.

Ghana coach, Chris Hughton in an interview with talkSPORTS recently confirmed that there is an attempt to convince Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson Odoi to play for the Black Stars.

“The issue is, and it is understandable, particularly for someone like myself who was born here. I have an Irish mother, and a Ghanaian father and chose to play for Ireland at that particular time.

“These are two players that have represented England at quite a few of the underage teams. So some of it is understandable. We have been in contact with them.

“Not just in my time, I think from before as well. It is a process. But ultimately it will be about both of them making that decision that they want to play but we have had good dialogue with them.”

However, Nketiah's call-up could possibly mean Ghana have missed out on the service of the young attacker.

He has so far scored two goals in three matches for Arsenal.
