Head Coach of the National under-17 team, the Black Starlets, Paa Kwesi Fabin says he is satisfied with the performance of his players in the friendly defeat to African Champions Mali.

The Black Starlets lost 2-1 to Mali in an International friendly on Wednesday in Dubai, as part of preparations ahead of the FIFA under-17 world Cup in India next month.

Ghana lost to the same opposition in the Africa Junior Championship finals, but Coach Fabin insist he is more focused on the readiness if his boys than the result.

“I’m satisfied with the way they played. One or two lapses, that is why we are here, so that we will be able to correct the mistakes and move on,” he said after the game.

“The Mali team is a good side, very physical. Unfortunately, the referee didn’t help matters but all in all it was a good exercise for me and my boys,” Coach Fabin added.

Coach Fabin has named his final 21 man squad for the competition, and has maintained all his key players from the Africa Junior Champions, with the likes of Gabriel Laveh, Ibrahim Sulley, Emmanuel Toku and Captain Eric Ayiah forming the core of the team.

The Black Starlets are returning to the World stage after a ten year absence, and are poised for a third title after last winning it in 1995.
