Ghana vs Nigeria: AS Roma striker Felix Afena-Gyan promises to give everything to help Black Stars secure World Cup spot

AS Roma forward Felix Afena-Gyan has vowed to give everything to help the Black Stars secure qualification to the World Cup at the expense of Nigeria.

The Super Eagles will play the Black Stars in a two-legged encounter with the winner securing one of the five slots on the African continent.

The first leg of the titanic qualifying tie will be played March 25 at the Baba Yara Stadium before the reverse encounter on March 29 at the Moshood Abiola national stadium in Abuja.

Speaking to CompleteSports, Gyan, who is ready to make his Black Stars bow has promised to give everything to help Ghana qualify.

“I am very much ready to make my debut for the Black Stars and I must tell you all that I am really happy with what I have seen so far in camp, having met my teammates for the first time,” Afena-Gyan told CompleteSports

“I can’t wait to play for Ghana and if called upon, I promise to give my very best to make sure that we win on Friday. It would be a dream come true to play at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup,”

Having missed out in the last edition of the Mundial, the Black Stars are seeking to play in the World Cup for the fourth time having played in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 in Germany, South Africa and Brazil respectively.

Nigeria have arrived in Kumasi for the much-anticipated clash on Friday.

Coach Augustine Eguavoen and his technical team arrived with 25 players for the crucial encounter.

In head-to-head meetings between the two West African rivals, Ghana enjoys the superiority having won 25, drew 19 and lost 12 in 56 clashes.
