Ghana winger Christian Atsu has been named in the English Premier League team of the week after scoring his first ever goal in the Premiership, and helping the magpies to a 2-1 win over Stoke City.
Captain Jamaal Lascelles scored his second goal in as many games as Newcastle beat Stoke City to record their third successive Premier League win and climb inside the top four.
Christian Atsu put the hosts in front from a wonderful Matt Ritchie ball in the first half, before Xherdan Shaqiri curled in an equaliser from long range.
The winger has been superb for the Premier League returnees after impressing in all of the club’s games.
Atsu was a provider in the club’s previous win against West Ham before making another sensational performance in the 2-1 win over Stoke City.
He joins the likes of Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah, Sergio Aguero of Manchester City, Manchester United’s Rumelu Lukaku and Rahman Sterling also of Machester City in the team of the week which was released by Whoscored.com.
