Ghanaian defender Jeremie Frimpong edges closer to joining Manchester United

Premier League giants Manchester United are reportedly close to securing the services of Ghanaian defender Jeremie Frimpong, Footballghana.com can understands.

Frimpong has become a subject of interest several top clubs following his swashbuckling performance for Bayer Leverkusen in the just-ended season.

The enterprising right-back established himself as a key cog to the club, scoring 9 goals and providing 11 assists as Leverkusen reached the semifinals of the Europa League.

Per SportBILD (via Sport Witness), Frimpong’s transfer to the Premier League club has gathered momentum, however, a move to the Old Trafford is on the horizon.

Manchester United manager Eric Ten Hag is keen to add up to his squad ahead of the new season and has identified the Ghanaian as a perfect fit for the right-back role at the club.

The CIES Football Observatory values Frimpong at approximately €40 million (£34 million), making him an enticing prospect for the Red Devils considering his potential contributions.

Frimpong has been crowned as the Player of the Season at Bayer Leverkusen.

The Dutch-born Ghanaian pulled 30.7% of the votes cast to win the prestigious award. Frimpong beat off competition from Florian Wirtz and Robert Andrich for the top award.
