Ghanaian defender Nicholas Opoku was in action for Amiens as they lost 2-1 to AS Monaco in the French Ligue 1 on Saturday.

The 22-year-old, who was making his second league appearance lasted the entire duration of the game with scintillating performance, but it was enough to prevent his side from losing to the former Ligue 1 champions at home .

Amiens took an early lead in the 9th minute of the game through Sehrou Guirassy.

After the recess, AS Monaco scored the equaliser in the 85th minute courtesy Wissam Ben Yesser's strike before Islam Slimani bagged the match winner in the 93rd minute to pick up all three points for the away side.

The result leaves Amiens 19th on the league table with 20 points after 24 round of the matches played so far this season.

Opoku joined the Unicorns on loan for the rest of the season in the winter transfer window from Serie A side Udinese.

Amiens paid €500,000 for the loan deal and would have to pay a sum of around €5 million to exercise the buy option.

The deal would only be fully completed if the Unicorns retain their French Ligue status at the end of the season.

He has made 22 appearances in all competitions for Udinese since joining from Tunisian giants Club African in 2018.
