Ghanaian defender Steffen Nkansah nets consolation goal in Erzgebirge Aue's 3-1 defeat to SC Verl

Steffen Nkansah scored a consolation goal for Erzgebirge Aue in their 3-1 loss to SC Verl in the German Bundesliga 3.

The 28-year-old, who was born in Germany, started the match at the SPORTCLUB Arena and played the entire game.

Before the clash, the head-to-head record between the teams stood at three wins for SC Verl, zero wins for Erzgebirge Aue, and no draws.

Niclas Nadj opened the scoring for SC Verl in the 7th minute with a right-footed shot from the center of the box. Lars Lokotsch doubled the lead in the 50th minute, and an own goal by Marco Schikora in the 55th minute made it 3-0 to SC Verl.

Nkansah scored his first goal of the season in the 77th minute with a right-footed shot from the center of the box, assisted by Erik Majetschak.

The former Borussia Mönchengladbach defender has made 10 appearances in the Bundesliga 3 this season. Erzgebirge Aue will face Unterhaching in their next league game.
