Ghanaian youngster Ebenezer Mamatah scored for SC Ashdod in their 2-1 win over Hapoel Beer Sheva in the Israeli State Cup on Monday evening.

Mamatah put up an inspired display to help his side come from behind to seal a vital win at the Yud-Alef Stadium to progress to the next stage of the competition.

The 21-yea-old has netted three goals in 12 matches in Israeli Premier League so far this season, including two goals in the Toto Cup and the State Cup.

Hapoel Beer Sheva took the lead in the 41st minute through Israeli forward Ramzi Safuri.

After the recess, Mamatah bagged the equaliser for the home side in the 49th minute of the game.

Mohamad Kanaan converted a penalty kick seven minutes from the final whistle to send Ashdod through to the next stage of the State Cup.

Mamatah joined Ashdod from Ghanaian Division One side Skyy FC in August and has since been a key cog of the team.
