Genesis Antwi, an English-born Ghanaian defender, has signed a scholarship deal with Chelsea Football Club, committing his future to the Lond club despite interest from rivals.
The agreement was finalized on Friday, July 7, 2023. Antwi is a talented right-back who currently plays for Chelsea's Under-18 team.
The 16-year-old announced the signing of the deal in an Instagram post after it was official.
He will be looking to impress new Chelsea U-18s coach John Terry as he looks to gain further promotion in the club's system.
Under the guidance of Ed Brand, the Chelsea U-18 team achieved commendable success last season, finishing eighth in the league, reaching the semi-finals of the prestigious FA Youth Cup, and winning the Under-18 Premier League Cup by triumphing over Fulham at Craven Cottage.
At just 16 years old, Antwi has already gained international experience by representing England at the Under-16 level.
Remarkably, Antwi also holds eligibility to represent both Ghana and Sweden at the international stage.
