Ghanaian goalkeeper Ati-Zigi delighted as St Gallen beat Basel

Ghanaian shot-stopper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has expressed his delight after helping St Gallen secure a 2-1 away win over FC Basel in the Swiss Super League on Sunday.

The 23-year-old lasted the entire duration of the game as he helped his side to pick up the maximum points at the St. Jakob-Park to go top of the league table..

"Glory to God. Great team performance and thanks to all of you for your amazing support," the in-form shot-stopper said after Sunday's crucial match.

FC Basel took the lead in the 19th minute of the game courtesy Kevin Bua strike.

The home side created lots of chances to add to their lead but they were denied by the Ghanaian goalkeeper who stood firm between in the posts.

Just before the end of the first-half, St. Gallen equalised through Fazliji Betim with a fine finish in the 44th minute.

Ati-Zigi continued his impressive form after the recess as he made brilliant saves at the St Jakob Park to keep his side on level.

André Ribeiro scored the match-winner for the visitors in the 93rd minute as they secured all three points to go top of the table with 41 points, same as second placed team Young Boys while FC Basel remained in 3rd position with 36 points.

The Ghanaian youngster joined the club from French Ligue 2 side FC Sochaux and has since made two appearances.
