Ghanaian midfielder Bernard Kumordzi delighted to be back after doping ban

Ghana and KV Kortrijk midfielder Bernard Kumordzi says he is happy to be back on the field after he played his first match after the expiration of his six-month doping ban.

Kumordzi received a four-month ban in Belgium over his failed drugs test in the Belgian top-flight league.

The 33-year-old tested positive on 15 October 2017 after the match against Standard Liege, hence the Flemish Doping Tribunal slapped the Ghanaian international with the ban after testing positive for the banned substance.

During that test, the concentration of Carboxy-THC in the urine sample was found to be just too high and another test turned out to be positive.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the psychoactive substance in cannabis, so it is not a performance-enhancing drug.

Over the weekend, he featured for KV Kortrijk in their 2-1 away win over KV Oostende.

"It's nice that I can do the things I like to do again," Kumordzi said.

"After almost six months without playing, it was really great, and we immediately win a lot of it."

Having previously played for  IFK Norrköping,  Egaleo FC, Panionios, he featured for French side Dijon FCO and KRC Genk.
