Ghanaian midfielder Hiram Kojo Boateng delivered an outstanding performance to help Mansfield Town secure an emphatic win over Harrogate Town in the English League Two.

The English-born Ghanaian was called to action when his outfit cruised to a resounding 9-2 win at the One Call Stadium on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old scored a hat-trick to lead Mansfield Town to victory in the thrilling encounter.

Mansfield Town shot into the lead after just 13 minutes into the game when English veteran forward Lucas Akins converted a spot kick.

Boateng added his sides second and third goals in a space of 10 minutes to increase his side lead. Before the halftime break, Tom Nichols and Davis Keillor-Dunn scored to double their advantage in the clash.

Five minutes after the interval, the Ghanaian attacker got his third goal of the match but George Thomson and Abraham Odoh scored in the 54th and 55th minutes to reduce the deficit for Harrogate.

Akins scored again in the 61st minute before Swan found the back of the net twice in succession to round off the historic victory for Mansfield.

Mansfield closed in on top spot in League Two standings as they equaled the club's all-time record league win from 1932 by destroying in-form Harrogate.
