Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey shines in Atletico's defeat to Real in Madrid derby

Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey featured for Atletico Madrid in their 1-0 loss to city rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish La Liga on Saturday night.

Partey, who lasted for 74th minute put an up an incredible performance but it wasn't enough as suffered a slim defeat at Santiago Bernabeu.

France international Karim Benzema scored the all-important goal for the home side in the 56th of the game to hand Los Blancos all three points as they move them top of the league table, four places above Atletico.

The Ghanaian was replaced by Sergio Camello as they went in search in of the equaliser.

The 26-year-old has made 19 league appearances for Atletico Madrid, starting 16 of them so far this season.

The Arsenal and Manchester United transfer target is expected to maintain his place in the starting line-up when Atletico host Granada in matchweek 23.
