Ghanaian striker Jonathan Opoku scores against FC Emmen to lift VVV Venlo out of relegation

Ghanaian striker Jonathan Opoku scored for VVV Venlo as they defeated FC Emmen 2-0 on Saturday evening.

Opoku scored his third goal of the season in the Eredivisie for VVV Venlo to help them move out of relegation zone temporarily.

He headed in Tobias Pachonik’ cross in the 7th minute to give the Yellow and Blacks the lead.

Peter Van Ooijen hit the crossbar inside 33 minutes when he was brilliantly set up by the Ghanaian but the Dutchman’s fine effort was inches away from making it two to the home team.

Peter Van Ooijen’s 96th minute goal ensured a well deserved win for the home side.

The 29-year-old was replaced in the 67th minute of the game with scintillating performance.

The win was VVV Venlo’s fifth victory of the season and are three points clear of the automatic relegation zone with a total of 15 points from 16 matches.
