Appiah, 31, has had a stellar month, scoring all five goals for the English lower tier side. However, his performances was not deemed enough to take home the prestigious accolade.

The judging panel for this award comprises of former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL communications director Mark Rowan, and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.

Dom Telford, a striker for Newport County, was given the award instead. He netted eight goals and added one assist during the same period.

Appiah was a key member of the Black Stars during their 2015 AFCON run.
