Ghanaian youngster Christopher Bonsu Baah has explained why he joined KRC Genk at the expense of other clubs.

The 18-year-old joins the Belgian club on a five-year deal from Norwegian side Sarpsborg after stellar stint.

The forward became an instant hit after arriving in Europe in March from Ghanaian side Shooting Stars FC, making the 2023 Golden Boy shortlists.

Despite interested from several clubs, Baah Bonsu opted to join Genk and according to him, it is the right choice at the right time for him.

“I have known the club for some time. When I was little, I played on FIFA with KRC Genk because of players like De Bruyne & Courtois."

“When I heard about KRC Genk's interest, I didn't hesitate for a second, despite interest from other teams. Being part of the club myself now feels like the right choice at the right time. I can't wait to develop further."

Baah Bonsu played 12 games for Sarpsborg in the current season scoring one goal and providing an assist, helping the club to finish 5th position at the end of the season.

The young Ghanaian forward is one of the two Ghanaians to have made the 2023 Golden Boy shortlist after a stellar campaign with the Norwegian club. Nordsjaelland’s Ernest Nuamah also made the list.
