Ghanaian youngster Francis Abu reacts to first Cercle Brugge goal in draw against Eupen

Ghanaian youngster Francis Abu has reflected on his maiden goal for Cercle Brugge in the Belgium Jupiler Pro League.

The young midfielder started and lasted the lasted duration and put up an impressive show in his sides 2-2 away stalemate against KAS Eupen on Saturday evening.

The 21-year-old registered his name on the scoresheet as his side come from behind twice to draw with Eupen in the matchday 27 fixture at Kehrwegstadion.

Reacting to his first goal, Francis Abu said, “I've been trying to shoot like this for several weeks, but most of the time I'm under pressure. Now I had the space and I could finally do it,” he added.

Eupen shot into the lead from the spot through Belgian defender Stef Peeters after just 10 minutes.

Three minutes later, Francis Abu scored to draw the visitors level after he was set up by Belgian midfielder Charles Vanhoutte.

The home team restored their lead with a goal from Ivorian midfielder Konan Ndri before Japan forward Ayase Ueda levelled matters again six minutes to the interval.

Francis has featured 19 times for Cercle Brugge this season, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

He has played every match since the beginning of the year 2023.
