Ghanaian youngster Francis Abu scores in Cercle Brugge’s heavy away win over Standard Liege

Ghanaian youngster Francis Abu registered his name on the scoresheet for Cercle Brugge in their heavy away win over Standard Liege in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.

It was his second goal of the season as his side cruised to an emphatic victory over their opponent on Saturday.

The 22-year-old made substitute appearance when his outfit inflicted a 4-0 win over Standard Liege at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne.

The attacking midfielder was introduced in the 57th minute mark, replacing Leonardo Da Silva Lopes and made his presence felt.

Cercle Brugge opened the scoring after just 7 minutes into the encounter through French defender Jean Marcelin as the home team went to recess with a one goal advantage.

After the break, Togo international midfielder Ahoueke Steeve Kevin Denkey doubled the advantage for the visiting team in the 51st minute.

The Ghanaian youngster increased the tally for Cercle in the 64th minute after he was assisted by French midfielder Yann Gboho.

Japan national team forward Ayase Ueda wrapped up the massive victory for Cercle when he put the icing on the cake with an additional time goal.

Francis joined Cercle at the beginning of the 2022-23 season from FC Nordsjaelland and has made 31 appearances so far, where he has scored twice and assisted three others.
